Behind Closed Doors, B. A. Paris

It’s been quite some time since I’ve finished reading this book, but I’m going to go ahead and post a short review just because this book was so purely awesome😉.

I found this book from a Facebook page that recommends interesting reads for you every once in a while. They mostly (but not always) focus on psychological thriller books, and me being a HUGE fan of thrillers… you get the gist of it. When they posted something about this book with a short synopsis, this automatically went on my list of books to read. After purchasing it on Kindle, I immediately began reading it. It’s a relatively short book and I finished it in around 3 days.

Behind Closed Doors is about a woman in her 30s named Grace, who has a little sister named Millie, with Down Syndrome. Because her parents hadn’t really cared to raise Millie, she had always been Grace’s responsibility. But Grace loves her little sister to death, so she doesn’t mind looking after her at all. However, because they know Grace will take care of her sister forever, the men she’s dated didn’t really want to marry her and ended up leaving her.

But then, one day at the park, Grace meets Jack, where they fall in love at first sight. Jack was the perfect guy – he had the looks of a movie star, he was a very successful lawyer (the one that defends beat-up wives) and he was filthy rich. Most importantly, he absolutely ADORED Millie and even suggested her moving in with them after they get married. Everything about their relationship was perfect, and soon after, Grace and Jack do get married and they go on a honeymoon to a gorgeous location in Thailand.

On their first night together, Grace washes up and comes out of the shower room to find out… that she has, in fact, married a monster. Jack turns out to be an ill-minded psychopath, who enjoys watching, hearing, and even smelling other people’s fear. He locks Grace up in Thailand and even after they go back home, constantly threatening her with Millie and punishing her by starving her whenever she tries to escape.

So, how does the story end? You tell me. If you’re looking for a good read to keep you entertained, this is it. I was totally hooked on this book the whole three days – I literally couldn’t stop reading it.

This book definitely made me do some re-thinking about marriage🙄 and how no one in the world can be trusted🙄. HAHA JK. But still, it scared me A LOT, enough to make me be veryyyyy cautious about the idea of getting married. After all, everyone has a side that no one knows about! 🙄

Let me know what you think!
